Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has announced recently that RM150 million has been allocated for the SuRIA Home solar rebate initiative. He said that under the initiative, domestic users who install solar systems under the Solar Accelerated Transition Action Programme (Solar ATAP) and meet the eligibility criteria can receive a rebate of RM600 for every 1kWac of solar installation, up to a maximum of RM3,000, equivalent to 5kWac.

With rebates of up to RM3,000 per household, SuRIA Home aims to make rooftop solar more accessible while helping Malaysians reduce their long-term electricity expenses.

What Is SuRIA Home?

Solar Accelerated Transition Action Programme (SuRIA) home is a government-funded programme designed to encourage homeowners to install solar systems under Solar ATAP programme.

Eligible domestic users can receive:

1. RM600 rebate per kWac installed
2. Up to RM3,000 per household (equivalent to a 5kWac system)
3. Rebate allocation on a first-come, first-served basis

“This programme is expected to benefit between 45,000 and 50,000 homes with a cumulative solar capacity of around 250M while also expanding the use of residential rooftop solar nationwide,” said by Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof on 22 May 2026.

SuRIA Home vs SolaRIS: What's Different?

Many homeowners may be familiar with the previous SolaRIS incentive.

While the rebate amount is lower than the previous SolaRIS programme, SuRIA Home continues to provide meaningful support for residential solar adoption and expands access through the new Solar ATAP framework.

The feature of SuRIA Home is that it is quota-based. The programme open from 1 June - 31 December 2026, or the 250MW national quota is fully allocated. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
